The shoes
Eight mechanically-distinct decks. The Playing shoe is orthodox 52; the rest are reclaimed by climbing the High Table.
| Shoe | What it does |
|---|---|
| The playing deck | Orthodox 52 cards. The blackjack you remember. |
| The tarot deck | Face cards replaced by Major Arcana. They have opinions — and each one dealt to you pays +10 chips, +20 for the cruel ones, win or lose. |
| The bone deck | No court, only bone. Every card of a winning hand grinds to chips. |
| The decimated deck | Your tens, decimated from the shoe. In return, your 21 always wins. |
| The true deck | Only two suits, doubled. Suited hands run true and often. |
| The twinned deck | No small change — five up. Pairs run thick; split them deep. |
| The sevened deck | Eights gone, sevens doubled. Three of a kind, within reach. |
| The court deck | The court doubled — faces run thick. Your blackjack pays even. |
